Our History

Established in 1927 as a volunteer organisation concerned largely with accident prevention, the NSCA expanded to become a national search and rescue organisation in the 1980s and continued evolving into a non-government, not-for-profit, member-based organisation with a vision of Australian workplaces becoming the safest in the world to protect their most important asset – people

Today

Today’s National Safety Council of Australia is now Australia’s leading Work Health and Safety training provider delivering expert public, onsite and online training, while membership services and benefits are independently managed by the NSCA Foundation.

NSCA Foundation is an independent, member-based, not for profit organisation with Australian charitable status, providing exclusive work health and safety support to members including national events, networking opportunities, savings, dedicated WHS advisor services, comprehensive resources, National Safety magazine, recognising and celebrating Australia’s safety leaders and innovation with the prestigious annual NSCA/GIO National Safety Awards of Excellence.
