A Guide to Conducting Workplace Investigations – for Managers and HR professionals
Few things can be more challenging in your professional role than handling a serious complaint of misconduct, particularly when it is an allegation of harassment, bullying or misconduct. This workshop will provide participants with the skills to handle more complaints with confidence.
The workshop will help you develop practical skills that enable you to conduct an investigation that also provides procedural fairness, gather evidence and make critical decisions. The workshop will provide case studies, practical examples, interviewing techniques and the accessibility of digital information.
Who should attend?
The course is designed for line managers as well as HR professionals involved in conducting, supervising or managing workplace disputes and investigations.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain the role of an investigation within their legal and policy framework
- Understand the concepts of natural justice and procedural fairness
- Develop an investigation plan
- Draft letters of allegation
- Conduct interviews
- Identify a range of sources of evidence including digital data
- Evaluate evidence gathered in an investigation
- Prepare an investigation report and recommendations

Meet your facilitator
Jasmine is a practising lawyer, human resources and stakeholder relations professional and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her career includes senior legal and HR roles at leading organisations including Minter Ellison, Mazda Australia and Linfox. Currently Jasmine is the General Manager – People Strategy Partnering at AGL Energy Ltd.
Jasmine was also a committed board member of the NSCA Foundation from June 2012 to June 2018. She worked as a general board member as well as providing specialist legal and HR support and insight.
Jasmine is passionate about people, culture, performance, leadership and engagement.
